Why We Don’t Recommend Peel-and-Stick Wallpaper
We often get asked about peel-and-stick wallpaper, and while we understand the appeal—easy to install, removable, renter-friendly—it’s not something we typically recommend for our clients.
Here’s why:
- It often looks temporary: Peel-and-stick wallpaper tends to lack the depth, finish, and richness of traditional wallpaper. The material is often thinner and can look more like a sticker than a design element.
- It doesn’t always hold up: Especially in humid areas (like bathrooms or kitchens), the adhesive can fail over time—leading to peeling edges, bubbling, or full panels falling off.
- It’s tricky to align: Without professional installation, patterns may not line up correctly, which takes away from the polished look that wallpaper should bring to a space.
- It can still damage walls: Contrary to the “easy removal” claim, peel-and-stick wallpaper can pull off paint or drywall if not removed properly—especially if it’s been up for a while.
