Part showroom, part storybook—this project gave us the opportunity to create a physical space that captures the heart of Common Thread Interiors. Located just outside historic Chestertown, our showroom was designed to be more than a place to browse—it’s a place to feel at home, find inspiration, and explore the beauty of livable design.
We approached the showroom as we do any space: with an eye for balance, intention, and personality. Each collection featured throughout reflects a unique design perspective—from the quiet restraint of Quiet Elegance to the layered charm of Coastal Funk—while together, they tell a cohesive story of enduring style and comfort.
Rich hunter greens, warm textures, heirloom craftsmanship, and playful coastal moments give the space rhythm and range. Custom furnishings and curated vignettes allow clients to experience materials and layouts in a real-life context—sparking ideas, conversations, and confidence in the design process.
Built to be both beautiful and functional, the showroom invites visitors to envision what’s possible in their own homes. It’s where inspiration meets expertise, and where every collection is a conversation waiting to happen.
Custom Design Details
Detail 1
We designed a custom built-in daybed wall that created three dedicated sleeping spots for the grandchildren—cozy, functional, and perfectly scaled.
Eat-In Dormer Nook
One of the dormers had an incredible view of the Chester River but challenging proportions. Standard furniture wasn’t going to cut it. We designed two custom built-in benches with cushions made through our workroom, paired with a custom table sized specifically for the nook. It turned into one of the family’s favorite spots.
Coffee Bar Dormer
On the front dormer, we extended the cabinetry plan to create a charming coffee bar. We styled it with a Stickley Slipper Chair in a Thibaut fabric and a fun ceramic garden stool—fresh, functional, and perfectly in tune with the rest of the home.
